What is this site about?

Over the years I have used Google searches to find ways to do things, mostly tech related, but also in other areas such as mechanics, woodworking, home repair, outdoors, music and more. Sometimes I documented what I learned, but most of the time not.

So why not dedicate a website to preserving all the things I have discovered that have helped me out one way or another? Not only could I go back if I needed to revisit the item, but I can share it with others who maybe are searching for the same solution I was!

That is what this site is about. A database of stuff I found useful that I can refer back to and share with others!

Who am I?

I have made my career in the information technology field ever since I first was exposed to a personal computer back in the mid 1980’s. I started tinkering on my own, every single day, with hardware, software and networking. I eventually got involved in the BBS scene of the late 80’s-early 90’s and exponentially increased my knowledge of computer technology.

Since then I worked as a data specialist for AT&T back when broadband service was just beginning, a functional analyst and server administrator for the US Army, doing various contract jobs as a Technical Consultant, as an IT Specialist for the Veterans Administration, and currently in my role as a IT Business Systems Analyst for the USDA.

I’ve seen a lot of tech over the past 30 plus years. I have quite a few IT certifications, but that doesn’t mean I know everything. And as I get older, I tend to forget more than I have learned!! This has made Google searches my best tool in the IT toolbox!

While I have a lot of skills in various things – IT, music (I have been a musician over 40 years now), historical research and writing (I have a BA in History), other topics I rely completely on searching Google for folks who are wiser than me in those areas.

So I hope this site helps folks who may be challenged technically but still want to learn. I hope my experiences, my research, and my documenting these things I want to learn more about helps those folks out.
